The government of Anambra state has once again reiterated it’s commitment to young minds with digital ideas in the state.
This was made known by the Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Mr. Afam Mbanefo when he declared open the Digipreneur Week 2019 at Stanel World in Awka yesterday.
Mr. Mbanefo disclosed that the state government has a program called Triple-I Initiative, Inventor-Investor Initiative.
“What this simply implies is that if you have an idea, Anambra State Government will match you up with an investor”, he said.
The Commissioner however advised the youths take up the opportunities that are abound in digital space and stop wasting their time on irrelevant chats and abuse of political leaders.
“Social Media is not an avenue to abuse people and political leaders.
“Stand up and put things into work by coming up with digital ideas and solutions as the state government headed by Chief Willie Obiano is ready to support,” he declared.
In his opening address, the founder of Digipreneur Hub and host of Digipreneur Week 2019, Engr. Ifeanyi Aniagoh thanked Governor Willie Obiano and the state government for the support given to the empowerment idea.
“I am delighted to have the full support of the Anambra State Government and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment & Creative Economy.
“I’m equally happy to train young people that appreciate the opportunities that are abound in the digital world,” Aniagoh said.
Engr. Aniagoh revealed that in the past 3 editions the digital empowerment programme has recorded about 3,000 participants, initiated 18 Start-ups, shared over N5m worth of Digital Tools Kits and exposed over 100 ventures through exhibition.
He maintained that the Digipreneur Week 2019 will not deviate from the core objectives of exposing the participants to opportunities in digital Entrepreneurship space by arming them with the right digital skills as well as providing sponsorship and mentorship to Digipreneur enthusiasts/ young CEOs.
In his speech, the MD of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Nze Uche Nworah, advised participants to partner, network and share ideas if they want to maximize the benefits of digital space.
Other speakers advised the youths to take advantage of the digital training to equip themselves and grab the numerous opportunities that are in digital world.
Digipreneur Week launched in 2016, formerly known as Social Media Hangout, a one-day gathering of social media Influencers, has become a multi-days convergence of digital entrepreneurs.
Digipreneur Week is a major activity of the Digipreneur Hub, an initiative rooted in the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Anambra state Governor on Youth Development and Digital Entrepreneurship aimed at providing unique platforms for self development and value reorientation; digital skills training and networking for digital entrepreneurship solutions.
